HOCKEY PEI ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING CONCLUDES
CECIL TAYLOR INDUCTED AS LIFE MEMBER

 
 
CHARLOTTETOWN – Members joined together at the 34th Annual General Meeting of Hockey PEI which took place on Thursday June 25, 2009 at the Rodd Royalty Inn in Charlottetown. The annual meeting included council and committee reports, award presentations, and elections/appointments to the board of directors.

Departing board members were recognized for their contribution to the organization and game of Hockey. Dale Strongman of Tyne Valley completed his term as chair of Minor Council with the organization and will now become the sitting past chair of Minor Council.

The Board of Directors for Hockey PEI for the 2009-2010 season are:

The 2009 Annual General Meeting saw the introduction of the 1st Annual Hockey PEI Awards Ceremony. Hockey PEI honored participants and volunteers who have devoted themselves to the betterment of the game. Hockey PEI was honored to present awards in the following categories.
  • Life Member Induction – Cecil Taylor (Charlottetown)
  • Presidents Award – Billy Mulligan (Charlottetown)
  • BF Lorenzetti & Associates Bursary – Marshall Ellis (Charlottetown)
  • Hockey PEI Scholastic Award – Morgan Watts (North Wiltshire)
  • Female Player of the Year – Valerie Boswall (Capital District Cyclones Midget “AA”)
  • Male Player of the Year – Cole MacMillan (Charlottetown Midget “AAA” Abbies)
  • Coach of the Year – Brendon Mullen (Capital District Cyclones Midget “AA”)
  • Team of the Year - Charlottetown Midget “AAA” Abbies
  • Minor Hockey Association of the Year Award – Tignish Minor Hockey Association
  • Volunteer of the Year – Jerry McKenna (Charlottetown Minor Hockey Association)
  • Administrator of the Year – Trevor Lank (North River Minor Hockey Association)
  • Minor Hockey Development Award (300 plus members) – Pownal Minor Hockey Association
  • Minor Hockey Development Award (300 less members) – Bedeque Minor Hockey Association
  • Official of the Year – Mike Annear (Cornwall)
