Charlottetown – Hockey PEI is proud to announce that Kaitlin Murray of Albany has been chosen to represent Hockey PEI and Hockey Canada at the 2008 International Ice Hockey Federation Youth Development Camp in Vierumaki, Finland August 9th - August 17th.
Only four Canadian players will represent Canada at the camp. Coaches, players and officials from 37 different nations across the world will take part.
Selected by a committee representing the Hockey PEI Development Council, Murray excelled both on and off the ice. This past season Murray was a member of the Summerside Midget 'AA' Girls team. She represented PEI at the Atlantic Challenge Cup in October 2007 with the Provincial Under 18 team. She also volunteers within the Borden-Carleton Minor Hockey Association as an assistant coach at the Pee Wee and Initiation levels.
The selection is based on both on-ice and off-ice criteria. Murray is currently the coordinator of the Agriculture Certificate Program at Kinkora Regional High School. She has also won 'Student of The Month' honors. Murray is a consistent honor roll student and a leader within the classroom and her community.
"Selecting one representative for the branch was a difficult task as we had several great candidates for the honor", says Nancy MacMillan, Chair of the Hockey PEI Development Council. "The committee is certain that Kaitlin will be a great representative for PEI in Finland".
