SUPPORT THE KRISTEN CAMERON TRUST FUND

 On September 12, Kristen Cameron was struck by an impaired driver in a hit-and-run accident while she was cycling in Erie, Pennsylvania. Twenty-five year old Kristen grew up in Charlottetown where she was actively involved in sports. She played hockey with the Charlottetown Minor Hockey Association. In 2004, Kristen enrolled at Bowdoin College where she played four seasons of collegiate hockey. While attending Bowdoin College, Kristen was a three time All NESCAC selection and in 2006 she was named a First Team All-American. Kristen spent the 2008-09 season as an assistant coach with the Castleton State College women’s hockey program while she was pursuing a Master of Education Degree.
The 2010-11 hockey season is Kristen’s second with the Mercyhurst College women’s hockey program, where she has been an integral part of the coaching staff. Kristen is currently taking a Master of Science Degree in Organizational Leadership.
Kristen’s family has long been involved in the hockey community. Her father Brian Cameron, Charlottetown, served as President of Hockey PEI from 1993-1995 and has coached several teams in the Charlottetown Minor Hockey Association. Kristen’s mother, Joanne Cameron, Stratford, was an active volunteer with several minor hockey teams. Kristen’s two siblings, Craig and Jennifer, along with numerous cousins and other family members are sports enthusiasts.
As a result of the accident, Kristen has sustained a serious spinal cord injury. She received immediate medical care at Hamot Medical Center in Erie. Kristen will undergo a period of rehabilitation at Lyndhurst Centre (Toronto Rehab) to improve her mobility.
Kristen is a focused young woman with a determined spirit. Her positive attitude, coupled with the support from family and friends, will help
Kristen along her road to recovery.
Kristen’s family is touched by the outpouring of concern for Kristen. The hockey community is organizing several fund-raising events, with proceeds going to the Kristen Cameron Trust Fund.
