POWNAL MINOR HOCKEY TO HOST BANTAM TOURNAMENT

 Charlottetown – Hockey PEI recently announced that Pownal Minor hockey will be the host of the first Atlantic Bantam AA Female Invitational Tournament. This year’s tournament is a test event amongst the Atlantic branches to try and establish a future Atlantic Championship for Bantam female hockey in the region.
This year’s event which will be held March 25-28 at the Pownal Sports Center will feature a representative from Newfoundland and Labrador, two teams representing Nova Scotia, the provincial Bantam AA Female Champion from Hockey PEI and the host Pownal Red Devils.
The host committee is pleased to announce that Paderno will sponsor this year’s event and excited to welcome Geraldine Heaney as the guest speaker for the tournament banquet. Heaney is a former member of Team Canada in which she has built an impressive resume including 7 World Championship titles and a two time Olympic gold medals. She is currently the Head Coach of the Waterloo Varsity Female team.
The host committee is led by co-chairs Charles Coll and Lowell Parkman. “The host committee welcomes all to come and enjoy the most exciting Bantam girls’ hockey in our region”.
The Bronze and Gold Medal Games are slated for Sunday, March 28th at 10:00am and 12:00pm.
