Charlottetown – The amateur hockey movement in Prince Edward Island recently received some help from Molson Coors Canada, in the form of a $12,258 donation. The funds were raised as part of a partnership between Molson Coors and PEILCC stores across the province from last March.
The donation will help fund a variety of hockey development programs for coaches and trainers, as well as the Speak Out program for officials and volunteers. In addition, funds will be allocated to support adult recreational hockey. Since 2003, Molson has donated over $75,000 to Hockey PEI to support the amateur hockey movement in the province and over $285,000 to support amateur hockey throughout the Maritimes.
“At Molson Coors, we’re true fans of hockey and we share the passion for the game,” said Alex Armsworthy, District Sales Manager, NB & PEI, Molson Coors. “Many of us play ourselves and we know that it takes hard work on behalf of the players, coaches and administration to keep things running smoothly. We are proud to play our part to support something that is part of the fabric of PEI.”
Molson raised the funds as part of an in-store promotion at PEILCC stores. For every 15-pack of Molson Canadian sold, Molson donated $1 to Hockey PEI. The promotion is taking place again this year from March 1st – March 31st where Molson is donating $1 from the sale of each 15-pack bottles of Molson Canadian sold.
“Hockey PEI is very grateful for the partnership that has been developed with Molson Coors and the annual contribution they make to the development of the game on PEI. These funds help eliminate some of the costs to our development programs that has a lasting impact on grass roots hockey,” said Gene Power, President Hockey PEI.
