ROSTER ANNOUNCED FOR REGIONAL LEG OF THE QMJHL CUP
Thanksgiving weekend is going to be a busy weekend for Hockey in New Brunswick. With the 2022 Atlantic Challenge Cup slated for its return at the Superior Propane Centre in Moncton, the four Atlantic Hockey branches will also be coming together for a regional competition out of the Dieppe at the Uniplex where the first leg of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL) cup will take place.
The event will bring together the provincial Under-16 male High Performance Programs and will set up the first highly scouted event for the 2023 QMJHL draft.
This year's roster was selected in conjunction with the Canada Winter Games process, which takes place every four years. Players were evaluated during parts of the 2022 High Performance Program Spring Development Camp and the Summer Selection camp.
“With last year's regional QMJHL Cup event being canceled due to the pandemic, we are happy that a bulk of our U16 male players will get to showcase their skills this go around. This is also a good opportunity for many players within our Canada Games process to come together and build some chemistry before February.”
- Hockey PEI Technical Director, Kris MacPhee.
The regional QMJHL Cup event gets underway on Friday, October 7th and runs until Sunday, October 9th.
