CHARLOTTETOWN, PE - The Atlantic Hockey branches have approved changes to the Female High Performance Program that will include the addition of a Female Under-14 program, at the 2023 Atlantic Challenge Cup.

The Atlantic Challenge Cup is an annual tournament held on thanksgiving weekend where the Atlantic branches (New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, PEI and Newfoundland & Labrador) compete against each other in 4 separate age divisions, Female & Male Under 14, Male Under 15 and Female Under 16. The process of selecting Team Prince Edward Island to compete at the 2023 Atlantic Challenge Cup will begin April 13 -16 at our HPP Spring Camp in Summerside, PEI.

With the creation a Female Under-14 High Performance Program, adjustments will also be made to the Female Under-18 High Performance Program and Team Atlantic. Team Atlantic will be competing at the 2023 National Under-18 Female Championship November 2023 in Dawson Creek, BC. Team Atlantic staff will evaluate the upcoming Canada Games in PEI, as well as evaluations from the 2022 Atlantic Challenge Cup to select players for the upcoming Team Atlantic Summer Camp.

In 2024 the Under-18 Female division will begin competing in an Atlantic Under-18 Tournament, which will be held in the Spring each year. This tournament will serve as the first step in the process of the selecting Team Atlantic in non-Canada Games years. Below is a critical path for U18 Female High Performance athletes.
