Hockey Canada’s Officials Program of Excellence is hosting its eastern regional male camp in Sherbrooke, QC this weekend. Hockey PEI will see two of its male officials take part. Blake Vandervelden (Summerside, PE) and Morgan Darbyson (Crapaud, PE) were amongst those selected for the event.
Vandervelden will attend the OPOE as a Referee and Darbyson as a linesperson.
The camp introduces officials to the first piece of Hockey Canada’s OPOE. It will include a weekend of testing both on and off the ice, classroom development and officials will also have the opportunity to work local hockey and be coached by members of Hockey Canada’s Officiating leaders. .
Most recently, four Hockey PEI female officials attended the Hockey Canada eastern regional female camp in Moncton, NB and one male official attended the National High Performance Program in Calgary.
